Different Engineering Jobs and the Degrees to Get Them

“Engineer” is one of the better paying job titles available today. The question is, what kind of engineer? Here are some of the different engineering jobs available today:

• Biological engineer. Biology engineers have had steady employment for years, although there’s a prediction that employment will sky rocket as stem cell research becomes more and more prevalent.
• Chemical engineering. Chemical engineering is one of the current scientific powerhouses of today. Work in the exciting field of chemistry and become educated on things most others consider theory.
• Civil engineering. Bridges and other public structures need inspection, and those that don’t pass need rebuilding. That’s where the civil engineer comes in; as a civil engineer, you literally become an integral member in the building of your community.
• Electrical engineering. This is one of the best engineering fields to enter. The field experiences continuous growth each year, congruent to the rising population.
• Computer engineering. The only engineering position that towers over electrical engineering in industry growth, computer engineering involves the mechanics and programming of the computers of today.

And there are still many others worthy of mention:
• Industrial engineering
• Military engineering
• Nuclear engineering
• Ocean/marine engineering
• Petroleum engineering
• Political engineering
• Textile engineering

Regardless of the engineering occupation you pursue, you will have to train extensively in mathematics and science. This includes more advanced mathematics and sciences like calculus and physics. Many of the college programs available for engineers appeal to a specific crowd and are not right for everyone out there. To those that are interested though, it can be a rewarding experience as you contribute to and improve the world we live in.
